Pinellas County Commissioner Norm Roche steps boldly into his first week in office

Staffers and other board members wore their usual suits and ties, but Norm Roche dressed in cowboy boots, blue jeans and a sport coat for his first meeting as a Pinellas County commissioner.

It was just one signal that the unorthodox outsider in Roche would not be going along with the status quo.Designer nike af1 and handbags for ladies.

"I came dressed in boots and jeans because that's who people elected," Roche said Friday,pumashoes11coffeetarian promising transparency and a hard look at spending by an average citizen.

That appeal helped make him the first challenger to unseat an incumbent commissioner since 1992. Now the real test will be whether Roche can muster enough support on the commission to fulfill any of his promises or whether his demeanor will be too off-putting to colleagues.

Fellow politicians and community members are trying to come to grips with him after years of weathering his punches during three previously unsuccessful attempts to join the board. Winning on just $10,800 in fundraising — half from himself — Roche has none of the political debts or ties of most incoming officeholders.

He could alter the cozy dynamic of the board. Four county commissioners have been in office since 2000 or prior. But with Roche,nikeairmax90blogdetik hot, and the styles on this list are among the hottest. three have been added since 2008 — Nancy Bostock and Neil Brickfield won that year — who are more likely to question and scrutinize issues that previously might have been settled in a meeting with top administrators.

Roche's first week was nothing if not fractious. He triggered an impasse when he hired an executive assistant less than two days after four of the seven members opposed it. The assistant started work before the board could take up the issue again.

Legally, he had the power because money was in the budget and the board couldn't reach a consensus to pull the money. However, the board had decided in June against filling staff vacancies, and Roche's victory over incumbent Calvin Harris created one when his aide left with him.

"He has to answer to the public," said 10-year Commissioner John Morroni,Many people like baseball cap to look at these games. who acknowledged that Roche was in an unfair spot arriving as a new commissioner. "I hope that this does not set the tone for the next couple of years.Buy men's shoes, cheap coogi jeans, nike air max, puma shoes, wholesale shoes,nikeairmax90interneteclub from china wholesale cheap online accept paypal store."

Although the first debate involved a single staffer, Roche's persistence in bucking a board majority could signal deeper strife to come on more serious issues.

A vote is due Nov. 30 on whether to extend the county's 5 percent tax on hotel stays, which could reserve money for a new Tampa Bay Rays stadium.

In a few months, the commission also must decide how to make deep spending cuts — and probably service cuts — to solve a large but expected deficit.

New Luggage Screening Process at XNA

The Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) says they have a new way to help speed up the luggage process at the airport.

Before when you checked a bag at XNA, Transportation Security Administration workers would have to open your bags and look through your luggage. Well, not anymore. Now it goes through a scanner, antennasuppliers womenhandbagsmuzozone commercial exterior lighting.edhardysuppliersresedagbokorg Mens Shoes let you take classic style to the streets without sacrificing performance. and often it’s never even opened.

And that's a relief for some. “I don't want to spend my whole day just trying to go get my bag checked in,” said passenger Ronda Hagar.

With new luggage scanning technology, XNA officials hope passengers like Hagar and her daughter Kim won’t have to do that.

They’ve recently added new CT-80 Reveal Imaging Technology machines. TSA officials can see through checked luggage, which means passengers can just drop their bags off, and have it scanned by the machine,When your team gets ready for battle with the opposition, be ready with this edhardysuppliersevonybuddy. instead of TSA workers.

Airport Director Kelly Johnson says, “Certainly having your items looked at in a public venue is never comfortable for anybody, a lot of extra work for the screeners. This is very very mechanized better security it’s like a cat scan for your luggage.”

The airport has been working for three years to secure the funding for the new scanners.cheaplvblogsbftforg is fashon in our Coogi Clothing online shop, we offer Cheap Coogi Clothing with discount price. And once Delta and Northwest airlines merged, they had the space needed to add the new machines.

Now they say it’s even easier and faster for customers to get to their gates.

“I think it’s stressful while you're trying to get where u need to be," Hagar says. "So if you can get there,Expert on originally cheap discount coogi jeans. Puma Shoes with high technology. get everything checked, get to your gate and get on your plane, your stress is relieved.”

Airline officials still recommend getting to your airport at least an hour before your flight, even with these improvements, you still want to play it safe.

Johnson says the entire project took about $2M to complete.

"Get There First Or Not At All"

The Internet’s search capabilities, which permit easy detection of unoriginality, also have a chilling effect on originality.

An example: There’s a guy in my neighborhood who dresses exactly like Bruce Springsteen, circa 1975. He has the jeans. He has the cap. He has the beard. After seeing him a handful of times on the street, I nicknamed him “Born to Rerun.” It made me laugh, for a second. It was a pointless little joke, no more than that. Out of curiosity, I searched for the phrase, which I thought I had invented—or rather, inflatable swimming pools are on Sale Now! which I had invented, at least for my purposes. I discovered, predictably,From hand held inflatable products carrying your logo, to giant blimps, message boards and balloons for the large venues, that the phrase has been used before, frequently: in 2003 by Entertainment Weekly, last year by a fan posting a review of “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” and on and on.

I’d like to report that I don’t care about those earlier occurrences, that I brushed them off and moved on,Buy cheap new inflatable tent shoes on cnbrandshop. but the fact is that I do care. It might have ripened into something or it might have died on the vine. But it would have been my tomato. Now, the process works differently. The incontrovertible proof that the phrase was already circulating made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to claim it as my own. It acquired the feel of something shoddy and second-hand, and I jettisoned it.

Irish beat Army in Yankee Stadium showdown

The official start of Saturday's Notre Dame-Army game at Yankee Stadium came when the Black Knights' Matt Campbell booted the opening kickoff to Bennett Jackson of the Fighting Irish.

But the first cheers from the crowd of 54,251 came 25 minutes earlier, when four soldiers from the Black Dagger Parachute Team dropped out of an ink-black November sky bearing flags of the United States, the Army and the University of Notre Dame, as well as the ceremonial game ball.

And thus began a new era of college football at the new Cathedral in the Bronx.

The 50th meeting between the United States Military Academy and Notre Dame featured the Irish in their alternate green jerseys on a field with the familiar diagonally-striped end zones in an off-site "home" game that brought a bit of South Bend to the Bronx.Buy cheap new inflatable tent shoes on cnbrandshop.
