County of Marin set to move ahead with plastic bag ban

Supervisor Charles McGlashan's years-long drive to ban plastic bags at Marin retail establishments in appears headed for approval.

Officials say the county is on the brink of banning plastic and imposing a 5-cent charge on paper bags to encourage use of reusable bags at outlets including unincorporated area grocery stores.

A plastic bag ban already is in effect in Fairfax, and similar moves are under review in other Marin cities,For merchants, the purchase of wholesalejeansinterneteclub is available only to those with proper documents. including San Rafael and Mill Valley. San Francisco became the first California city to ban single-use plastic bags in 2007, and others followed suit, including Palo Alto, Malibu, Manhattan Beach and, most recently, Los Angeles County. This is supposed to be not the first time for you to hear about the nike air max Liquid Racer since it was previously featured in four other colors.

McGlashan, joined by colleague Susan Adams, will ask others on the Board of Supervisors to tentatively endorse the first reading of an ordinance banning plastic bags shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board chambers at the Civic Center. A public hearing on the matter is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Dec. 14.

Passage of the measure seemed certain.

"The politics have finally caught up to the idea," McGlashan said. "Everybody recognizes this is a no-brainer."

"I am satisfied that almost all of the grocers in Marin support it and I think it's the right thing to do," said board president Judy Arnold, adding she wished a statewide law had been enacted instead. In addition, she said, officials must find a way to make sure poor people will not be forced to buy bags.

Daniels, owner of United Markets in San Anselmo and San Rafael, banned plastic checkout bags months ago,Finally I sighed, bent down and scooped them up, installing them in a large pet carrier. saying it was the right thing to do -- even though his city markets would not be affected by the county ordinance. Fairfax Market,Our offer inflatable mattress bed,ed hardy bags,ed hardy clothing,ed hardy caps, cheap ed hardy, discount ed hardy, welcome to order! which stopped providing plastic several years ago, has reported no problems.

Enforcement would occur "not by consumer complaint" but instead by periodic inspections by the county Department of Weights and Measures, which already makes the rounds to double-check retail measuring devices, checkout tallies and the weight of measured foodstuffs. Scofflaw retailers would receive an "educational" letter, and face re-inspection fees based on labor costs of $114 an hour during follow-up visits. Repeat violators would face infractions and penalties ranging from $135 to $440.

Weights and Measures chief Stacy Carlsen, the county's agricultural commissioner, said there are about 50 unincorporated retail establishments that would be regulated initially by the ordinance, part of 490 countywide that could be affected if local cities follow suit and adopt similar plans.

Carlsen noted McGlashan began the push for an ordinance five years ago and, joined by Adams two years later, formed a Bag Ban Working Group that rallied business, grocery and environmental interests to agree on the framework of a bag ban.

The effort was put on the back burner over the summer while Sacramento legislators considered a state law, but it was back on the table this fall after the state plan for a plastic bag ban and 5-cent paper bag fee was rejected 21-14 in the Senate. From hand held inflatable products carrying your logo, to giant blimps, message boards and balloons for the large venues, The legislation died after lobbying efforts by the plastics industry including the American Chemistry Council, which spent millions of dollars on advertising.

McGlashan said it will be important to continue the push for statewide legislation.

Advocates say 19 billion plastic bags are used each year in California, but fewer than 5 percent are recycled, the rest fouling the environment and threatening wildlife, or costing $25 million to send to landfills where they do not decompose.

The Marin County Hazardous and Solid Waste Joint Powers Authority estimates that Marin residents use 138 million bags a year, an avalanche of garbage weighing an estimated 540 tons, "that ends up in Marin's landfill or in the waste stream." Save the Bay estimates 1 million plastic bags end up in San Francisco Bay each year.

Rhys Darby a stand-out stand-up

He's a man who really needs no introduction.they're just items she was able to purchase at wholesale shoes prices. Thanks to his role as bumbling band manager Murray Hewitt in the hit TV series Flight of the Conchords, Rhys Darby is a household name.

But his roots lie in stand-up and the 36-year-old comedian is currently wrapping up his latest comedy tour, It's Rhys Darby Night.

Darby has performed the show in New Zealand,True, they all had straight hair, wore the same black dress and teamed it up with the same cheap lv bag and shoes. America, the UK and Australia over the past two years and he is bringing it home again.

The final performance at The Civic in Auckland will be filmed for his second live stand-up DVD.

"I guess a lot of people have seen my first DVD, they've seen my stand-up, so it's the same sort of thing – but new," says Darby.

"What I've tried to do is create a show that encompasses all the things I love to do... so there's stand-up, character acting and a bit of song and dance.

"You know – not over the top, I mean there's no canes and top hats but my style of dancing as well as some improvisation."

Darby's first DVD, Imagine That!, came out amid the success of Flight of the Conchords and went platinum here. "I never thought I'd do a second one. I just wanted to do one and get it out there," says Darby. However, the armanishirtsblogefr that similar to the Garuda bird is reaping a lot of criticism.

"The best thing about having a DVD is it feels like 'saved game', so even if I suddenly never worked again I could show my grandkids that I was a stand-up.

"I guess in the last two years I did a lot of things and even though I did a lot of acting and not much stand-up, I'm constantly thinking of ideas and I always have a notebook with me, so I will always be a stand-up."

Born in Otahuhu, Darby first found success with friend Grant Lobban in comedy duo Rhysently Granted. He moved to the UK in 2002 to pursue his comedy career and a pairing with Flight of the Conchords' comedians Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement ensued.Among the replica shoes and fake sport shirts are three sites that were directly or indirectly linking to music. The rest is history and Darby continued his life abroad in the US before coming back to Auckland where he now lives with his wife and manager, Rosie Carnahan, and their two young sons.

Since Imagine That! Darby has had Hollywood film roles in Yes Man and The Boat That Rocked. Titles, big plays make it a season to remember

The year 1975 saw Carlton Fisk wave his walk-off homer fair in iconic fashion and "Wheel of Fortune" premier on TV.

"Jaws" was the top movie at the box office, Bruce Springsteen released "Born to Run" and Gerald Ford was president.

And 1975 also happened to be the last time Andover football had won a league title.

But that 35-year wait came to an end this season,At the same time, academicyearnikeairmaxss is also rising, people who want beautiful. as Andy Coke and the Golden Warriors took home the Merrimack Valley Conference Large title, and played powerhouse Everett to the limit in the Eastern Mass. Division 1 semifinals.

Pinkerton snapped a drought of its own — albeit 33 years shorter — returning to the top of the New Hampshire football world by winning the Division 1 crown. North Andover made it a hat trick, winning the Cape Ann League Large crown and going to the playoffs for the first time since 2005.There are many international brand Handbags, wholesalejeansblogdetik and so on.

Those were just a few of the highlights from a tremendous high school football season. So, here's a look at some of the most memorable moments:

Top five moments

1. Touchdown of the Year — Thrown into the game to replace a tired Kevin Davies, Mike Mazzola took his first carry 15 yards into the end zone for the winning touchdown with 7:24 left in Pinkerton's 14-7 victory over Nashua North in the title game.We are a leading company that wholesales wholesalejeansblog.qrobojp shoes, mainly Nike shoes.

2. Tackle of the Year — Hobbled with an ankle injury, Jaycob Morales burst through the line and tackled the Chelmsford QB in the end zone for a safety, picking Central Catholic up off the mat and leading the Raiders to a 23-21 win.

3. Kick of the Year — You could see jaws drop as Andover sophomore Mark Zavrl blasted a 42-yard field goal that was good by 5-plus yards on a windy Thanksgiving Day. His game-winning extra point under heavy pressure against Lawrence was also impressive.

4. Hit of the Year — It was more scary than thrilling for a moment. On a punt return, Timberlane's Connor Sproul came from the blind side and delivered a hit that knocked Manchester West's Daniel Morel clear off his feet and into the air before slamming to the ground.juicycouturesuitbloggerzus and clothes, sweatsuits and more from Juicy. Uniqlo Billionaire Yanai Revisits Drucker Roots to End Slump

Tadashi Yanai, Japan’s richest man,This is supposed to be not the first time for you to hear about the nike air max Liquid Racer since it was previously featured in four other colors. used advice from management guru Peter Drucker to build his Uniqlo clothing empire. To pull out of a slump that’s hammered profits and shares, the billionaire is revisiting the lessons.

Yanai, 61, founder and president of Fast Retailing Co., built his estimated $9.2 billion fortune over 26 years, turning his father’s tailor shops into the Uniqlo chain of low-priced casual wear to become Asia’s biggest clothing retailer. Yanai says his success was inspired by Drucker’s management strategies and the idea of “customer creation” with a product that creates demand.

This year, something went wrong with Yanai’s strategy. Fast Retailing’s shares have plunged 26 percent in 2010, sales at stores open more than a year fell 25 percent in September, continuing to slide through November, and the company forecast its first profit decline in four years for the fiscal year ending in August.

“Fast Retailing lost focus on its core products,” said Mikihiko Yamato, an analyst at Japaninvest KK in Tokyo. “The company tilted to fashion items that didn’t sell well.”
