That is less than half the price Barneys commanded in 2007, when the Dubai-based investment firm Istithmar World shelled out a whopping $942.3 million for Barneys, only to be blindsided by a recession that squelched demand for designer clothing, shoes and handbags.

The deal will relieve Barneys of a crippling debt load of $590 million, slashing it to just $50 million, and saving the retailer from the threat of a bankruptcy filing this year.

Perry, who will become chairman, also will continue to back CEO Mark Lee, a former Gucci executive hired in 2010 for a turnaround.

Bill Neukom,a giant among Giants

I wanted to shop for running asics shoes.

Two days after he became managing general partner of the Giants, Bill Neukom left his San Francisco hotel in search of the perfect latte. He needed something strong enough to help him reanimate a team that had just finished the 2008 season 72-90,Find a fashionable range of women boots and ladies shoes all in one place online. next-to-last in the National League West.

Neukom has favored bow ties since he attended San Mateo High School, and at 69, he has a pile of white hair that rises above his head like freshly steamed foam -- making him easily recognizable. But on that October morning, he passed through the crowded streets unnoticed, a virtual unknown in the city whose baseball fortunes he would now guide.

He had once been lawyer to the richest man in the world, presiding over a legal team that for five years fought the United States government as an equal. In the process, Neukom helped earn for Microsoft -- the company he represented for more than two decades -- a reputation as the tech world's Evil Empire. But as a newly minted baseball executive, he assumed he wore a cloak of anonymity.

As Neukom turned up Grant Avenue, he noticed an approaching figure. "He's shuffling along, plainly a homeless person," Neukom says. "He had a lot of scraggly hair under a baseball cap and a plastic bag over his shoulder. As I get closer, I identify an A's logo on his hat."

The two men -- headed in very different directions -- made eye contact.More information about nike air max 97 shoes including release dates and prices. "And just as I'm passing him," Neukom recalls, "he says, 'Good luck with the Giants, kid.' "

Just two seasons later, an exultant -- and no longer anonymous -- Neukom was accepting the World Series trophy from baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, following the Giants' improbable championship run that ended with a beat-down of the Texas Rangers. He had been a fan of the team for 50 years by the time he gained control of it -- at Stanford Law School, Neukom listened to games on a transistor radio -- and he became so consumed with winning during the playoffs he picked the socks he wore based purely on clubhouse superstition.

"I didn't bring an orange bow tie to Texas for fear it might jinx us," he says. Neukom's wife, Sally, bought one after the Giants won Game 4 and he wore it for the trophy presentation the next night. When he ran into pitcher Tim Lincecum later in the locker room,Love womens Wedge Shoes? So do we. the team's principal owner -- who has four grown children of his own from an earlier marriage -- felt the tie in his jacket pocket and handed it to his star player.

Lincecum, whose long hair is in keeping with a "hippie" upbringing, asked Neukom earlier in the season to teach him how to tie a bow tie. Now the two-time National League MVP became a little boy again, examining the bow tie with wonder. "He looked at it and said, 'Is that for me?' " Neukom remembers. "That was a sweet moment."

Organizational clarity

Since their last World Series appearance in 2002, the Giants sometimes found themselves tied in knots as an organization under managing partner Peter Magowan, who ran the team for 16 years. Neukom, who began buying blocks of the team's stock in 1995 with the millions he earned as Microsoft's general counsel, was determined to bring the same organizational clarity to baseball he had imposed while building a high-tech legal department of more than 650 people.

"Bill believes in process," says Giants general manager Brian Sabean. "You don't have much second-guessing in an organization if everybody's in on the first guess." Still, Neukom loves drilling into details, like swapping information with scouts about players throughout the team's far-flung farm system. "You can ask him about any of these minor league kids," says manager Bruce Bochy, "and he'll tell you all about them."

At the team's spring training camp in Arizona, Neukom frequently was greeted like a rock star by fans as he made his way through the stands. During batting practice before one game, Steve Wong, of San Jose, asked Neukom to sign a baseball, then circled around and joined another crowd of autograph-seekers to get Neukom's signature on a second ball. And when the defending champs play their season-opener Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Neukom will remain the big difference in the front office.

In two of the pastimes that matter most in the Bay Area -- computers and baseball -- Neukom's inability to let up, even after he has won, has led to a scorched earth record of success. As Bill Gates' hand-picked general counsel, womens sandals are not only popular today, but have been popular throughout the ages. he waged a bruising battle to prevent the government from breaking up Microsoft. Other lawyers envied his success, and friends frequently reminded him of the company's skyrocketing stock price.

"People would say, 'You must be having a ball. You've got the best law job in the world,' " he recalls. "When you're in a high-visibility, high-stress, high-stakes situation, there are parts of it that are very rewarding, but the way I'm wired it's not fun."

And the pressure has only increased now that he's the public face of another storied franchise. "It had been pretty public at Microsoft, given the litigation and the success of the company," Neukom says. "But this is of a different magnitude."

Word of the Day,disparity

The word disparity has appeared in 227 New York Times articles in the past year, including on Jan. 31 in "Define Gender Gap? Look Up Wikipedia's Contributor List" by Noam Cohen:

In 10 short years, Wikipedia has accomplished some remarkable goals. More than 3.5 million articles in English? Done.Choose your favorite winter t-shirt from thousands of available designs. More than 250 languages? Sure.MBT Sport Shoes are an extremely popular choice.

But another number has proved to be an intractable obstacle for the online encyclopedia: surveys suggest that less than 15 percent of its hundreds of thousands of contributors are women.Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion .

… With so many subjects represented — most everything has an article on Wikipedia — the gender disparity often shows up in terms of emphasis. A topic generally restricted to teenage girls, like friendship bracelets, can seem short at four paragraphs when compared with lengthy articles on something boys might favor, like, toy soldiers or baseball cards, whose voluminous entry includes a detailed chronological history of the subject.A sport jacket suit, is a tailored coat for men.

Even the most famous fashion designers — Manolo Blahnik or Jimmy Choo — get but a handful of paragraphs. And consider the disparity between two popular series on HBO: The entry on "Sex and the City" includes only a brief summary of every episode, sometimes two or three sentences; the one on "The Sopranos" includes lengthy, detailed articles on each episode.

Instant Recyclable Shoes - Make A 'Pair' Into Four Or More

Grant Delgatty was a shoe designer for over a decade - working with K-Swiss, Puma, and Vans -before he decided he'd had enough of trying to think of what consumers would want in a season or two. Instead, he endeavored to create a line of shoes consumers could customize for themselves, by choosing soles and switching out uppers when they were worn, out of style, or didn't match a wearer's mood. Even better, Delgatty made the soles of the shoes recyclable. Thus,More popular is through tee shirt statement facelanddrink. Urshuz (pronounced 'Yer shoes') were born.

Uniqlo Wants to Enter India 'As Soon as Possible

Uniqlo Wants to Enter India 'As Soon as Possible,The new and risqué is usually the appeal and men's wholesale jeans have always been a pretty good indicator of what's in.' Yanai Says

Fast Retailing Co.'s Uniqlo chain of casual clothing aims to enter the Indian market "as soon as possible" to tap faster-growing economies to bolster sales.

"We want to study details of the agreement between Japan and India right away," Fast Retailing President Tadashi Yanai said in an interview in Tokyo today, referring to the trade accord that the two nations signed yesterday. "We want to enter India as soon as possible."

Fast Retailing, Asia's largest clothing chain, plans to expand the number of Uniqlo stores overseas in an effort to boost sales sixfold to 5 trillion yen ($60 billion) by 2020. Making Uniqlo's 3,990 yen jeans available in India, where the government predicts economic growth of 8.6 percent this year, may help Fast Retailing stem its slowest sales growth in more than seven years.

"The faster they open stores in India the better," said Toshihiro Nagahama, chief economist at Dai-Ichi Life Research Institute in Tokyo. "It will give Uniqlo a head start to building its brand."

Separately, Uniqlo said today that it aims to sell more than 10 million pairs of chino and cargo pants this spring and summer. Fast Retailing is returning its focus to functional wear after attempts to compete in trendy apparel with Inditex SA's Zara and Hennes & Mauritz AB's H&M brands eroded sales growth.
Sales Growth

Sales at Yamaguchi, Japan-based Fast Retailing gained 5 percent in the second half ended Aug. 31, the smallest increase since at least 2003, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Fast Retailing plans to add 44 Uniqlo stores overseas and 36 in Japan in the 12 months ending August, raising its total to 1,024, the company said Oct. 8. Republicans Mistake Michael Williams For A Waiter

You know your political party has a race problem when activists are frequently mistaking a rising star in a major state for... a waiter.

That's what happened to Michael Williams at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference. Williams is a Railroad Commissioner appointed by George W. Bush, the first African American to hold a statewide executive office in Texas, wearing caps or hats without scarves, tight and short coogi jeans, and body piercing. and an erstwhile Texas Senate candidate. During an interview at CPAC, Williams said other [overwhelmingly white] attendees mistook him for being the help.It is an email notification service that notifies buyers about the recent additions to the used inflatable boats for sale available with the company. Repeatedly. The man who helped Jordan win jordan 6 rings as a player wants to be a coach, and though inexperienced,

Williams says it's because of his bowtie. Hey, at least someone at CPAC is color-blind.

Talking Points Memo has the story. It starts when Williams is repeatedly mistaken for Herman Cain, one of the other very, very few African Americans seeking Federal office as a Republican:

I asked Williams if that happened a lot. "Not really," he told me. "A lot of people think I'm a waiter."

Williams blamed the confusion on his trademark bowtie, which -- like a lot of conservatives -- he wears all the time, and wears well.

A friend with him said that on more than one occasion, people had asked him to get them a drink. "I think it's really because of the bowtie," Williams explained.

It's not because of your neck wear, Michael! It's because of the color of your skin, and because your political party is home to those who openly hate the President because he's Black. You could wear a bolo tie, a bandanna, or even one of those awesome tee shirts with a pre-printed tuxedo, and still be mistaken for a waiter by a bunch of your fellow Republicans, many of whom would gladly go back to the days before public school integration.

As an aside, if it's really the bowtie, someone ask Tucker Carlson the last time anyone asked him to fetch a cocktail.

Also from TPM:

[Williams] told me how conservatives need to do a better job reaching out to the African American community,Today, I want to show you their leather phone cases. where he acknowledged right wingers have little entre or experience.

He's right! Republicans could probably start doing that by.Larger pets need to be checked and require a large pet carrier non-collapsible carrier and easy access to water...

* Not making, or displaying, any of these signs, especially not in public and to the news media, ever.
* Not asking for the African American President's birth certificate because you think he's actually a Kenyan Muslim.
* Not hanging artwork depicting nooses in your law offices.
* Not slathering yourself in the Confederate Flag. It makes people think you're glorifying the pre-Civil War South, and ipso facto, slavery.
* Not saying stuff like "If an individual wants to discriminate against Negroes or others in selling or renting his house, he has a right to do so." (Thanks for that one, Ronald Reagan!)

Oh, or, you know, not passing myriad laws that have a disproportionately negative impact on communities of color, especially lower-income communities of color (see: drug laws, mandatory minimums, welfare reform, Bush tax cuts, efforts to repeal health reform, and the entire Reagan administration).

It is probably difficult for Williams to grasp the fact that his political party will always consider him a second-class citizen based on his skin color. Perhaps he wonders if they'll turn the same race-based rhetoric they use on Obama against him in his Senate primary. Maybe he watched what happened to fellow Commissioner Victor Carrillo in his Republican primary and was glad that his last name doesn't give away his ethnicity.

Or hey, maybe he's just glad that they didn't preface their drink orders with "Come here, boy!"
