Mary Rayon has been dressing local actors for nearly three decades

She has put 27 years, hundreds of research hours, thousands of buttons and millions of stitches into her job at Lower Columbia College's Center Stage.

There is no data available on the love.

"I like the creative aspect of it," said Mary Rayon, who has costumed plays for director Don Correll since 1983. "Once you do something like this, making yourself a pair of polyester pants with an elastic waist doesn't cut it any more."

Rayon — the name with the good fit is courtesy of a former husband — met Correll when she was directing and costuming a variety show at St. Rose School.

"I would pick his brain and borrow his follow spot," said Rayon, referring to a roving spotlight. From hand held inflatable products carrying your logo, to giant blimps, message boards and balloons for the large venues,

She decided to go to one of Correll's shows, which happened to be "A Man for All Seasons."

"It was back in the days when he had to turn off the heat during a play because the furnace made so much noise," she said of the old theater space. "You had to dress warmly and bring a pillow" for the hard seats.

As the drama began, Rayon said, all discomfort was upstaged.

"I was totally impressed. I did not know Longview could produce the kind of quality Don had produced."

When the resident costumer went to try her luck in New York, Rayon debuted at Center Stage for what would become a very long run.

Her current work, costuming the British farce "Charley's Aunt, inflatable mattress bed is a private company categorized under Inflatable Beds and located in Brookhaven, PA." comes after two seasons doing pared-down plays in a borrowed venue while the college's new art center was under construction.

After all that restraint, to be set loose on a period play full of gorgeous frippery "has been like a shot in the arm for me," Rayon said.

Surrounded by drawers full of buttons, zippers, braiding and jewelry, with access to shelves of art and design books, she was in her element with "Charley's Aunt," which is set in 1892.

At the turn of the last century, women were trussed in corsets and voluminous skirts held aloft by petticoats and topped with bustles.

They wore gloves, and hats piled with blooms and ribbons.

Rayon added even more detail, with a fragile pocketbook that once belonged to her grandmother,Looking for ED Hardy ,ED Hardy clothing and ed hardy wholesale. as well as a real cameo and flashing gems from the mother of Center Stage's late lighting technician, Terry Reiniger.

Rayon ran out of ivory satin while cutting a skirt panel for the back of one of the ball gowns. She created a flounce along the hemline, using contrast fabric from the gown's bodice.Discover best buy coach shoes you have not seen before. It's a highlight of the dress.
