DePaul's Big East chances dwindling

There aren't many opportunities for victories in the Big East. There aren't even many dates that are against unranked opponents.

So those rare days are the ones to be seized.

DePaul wasted a shot by losing to Seton Hall in the conference home opener on Jan. 12. When the Blue Demons travel to South Florida (7-14, 1-7) on Thursday it may be their best opportunity to end their embarrassing string of Big East losses, now at 20.

If not now, when?

After the Bulls, DePaul (6-13, 0-7) plays five ranked opponents in the next six games over the next three weeks —Notre Dame, Louisville, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Villanova fill the docket.

South Florida's lone conference victory came against Providence. While the Bulls' record is abysmal, they haven't suffered many blowouts.Larger pets need to be checked and require a large pet carrier non-collapsible carrier and easy access to water. They lost on the road to Connecticut by five points and fell to BYU by two points in double overtime.

DePaul has been hit with an avalanche the last three games, losing by 20 points to Connecticut and suffering 30-pointlosses to Marquette and Pittsburgh.

Can't-miss McCammon: Loyola guard Geoff McCammon wants to start, but — strangely enough — his excellent numbers are keeping him from that role.

The last three games, the senior has come off the bench for the Ramblers and found his stride.

In a Jan. 8 loss to Wright State, he started and went 1-for-9 from the field, including 0-for-3 on 3-pointers. In the three games since, McCammon has connected on 18 of 31 shots, including 10 of 18 3-pointers.

In Saturday's victory against Illinois-Chicago, he scored a team-high 19 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the perimeter.

His time on the court has not decreased.

Turnover trouble: There are plenty of areas of concentration being expressed in UIC practices as the Flames' losing streak hit eight games. But turnovers are probably being underlined on the chalkboard.

The Flames have turned the ball over 38 times in their last two losses with 12 coming from forward Paul Carter, who has the ball in his hands almost as much as anyone on the team.

They rank last in the Horizon League with a minus-2.8 turnover margin and ninth out of 10 teams with 15.9 turnovers per game.
