Marathon odyssey nears finish line

After 250 runs and 10,550 kilometres, Cochrane’s marathon man wants to re-acquaint himself with his couch.

But Martin Parnell said tackling the feat in 2010 through sheer force of sweat and worn shoe rubber has been a life’s highlight.

“I’m just thrilled to bits ... to be honest, I didn’t have a clue I could do it,” said Parnell, 55.There's nothing like a little Manolo blahnik goodness in time for the holidays, you know what I'm saying?

“It’s the equivalent of going to Boston and back.”

On Friday, Parnell will reach his finish line with one final jog of 42.2 km at Cochrane’s Spray Lakes Sports Centre.

It’ll end an odyssey that’s taken him to Yellowknife and last April’s Boston Marathon.

But most of it’s been done locally and forged an appreciation for down-home amenities.

“The pathway system in Calgary is brilliant,” he said.

The starting gun for Parnell’s marathon mission was a trip to Africa where he encountered children hungering for sporting release.

He coupled his efforts with the charitable movement Right To Play, which raises funds fuelling athletic programs for underprivileged children in Canada and abroad.

So far, he’s raised $185,000 towards a goal of $250,000 that he hopes to reach by the end of January.

“It’s sort of a job half-done,” said Parnell, who’s gone through 25 pairs of running shoes.

But it hasn’t come through lack of effort, he said — one that cost him a repetitive leg strain injury last February while conquering Cochrane’s big hills.

“I switched to a walking and running approach — you use different muscles,” he said.

And after losing more than 5 lbs. following the first month on his feet,As Nike air max tn, Nike Free Shoes was re-released in the early 2000s. he also altered his diet to one of high dairy protein.

Dr. Bill Hanlon, who’s advised throughout the marathon said Parnell’s done remarkably, though he recommended the runner cut back from daily marathons to just five days a week.

“We learned that with the right physiology and biomechanics, people can do this,” said Hanlon.

All of that allowed him to carry on and visit 60 schools and 12,000 students — many of whom opened their wallets and piggy banks for other kids.marking some of the most interesting puma shoes on the market.

Four charged in federal court on robbery, suspected in others

FBI investigators suspect that four people arrested Tuesday on suspicion of robbing a Broomfield bank are also responsible for up to eight additional bank robberies, including one earlier Tuesday evening in Lafayette.Riders wear long underwear beneath their Polo Shirts, and the horses wear special cleats. We then bought checked lungis from railway stations to make the shirts' plackets and mens hoodies.

Dave Joly, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said Broomfield police arrested four suspects — two men and two women — after the TCF bank in Broomfield at 4100 West 144th Ave. was robbed at 6:40 p.m.

Federal prosecutors charged Audra Lee Belle Boykin, 32, Justin Ray Boykin, 26, Christy Ann Hull, 28, and Eli Joseph Shortt, 29, each with armed bank robbery and aiding and abetting.Designer fashion is the first stop for most shoppers but the biggest-selling item was expected to be business ed hardy shirts.

If convicted, they face up to 25 years in prison, fines up to $250,000, up to five years of parole and restitution of up to $4,492.

So far, prosecutors have charged them only with the Broomfield robbery on Tuesday. U.S.You can never have too many designer accessories, and this Juicy couture wholesale 'Jelly' Laptop Case is just too cute to pass up! Attorney’s Office spokesman Jeff Dorschner said other charges are possible.

“At this point they are charged with the TCF bank robbery (in Broomfield),” he said. “They possibility that they were involved with other bank robberies is the subject of an ongoing investigation.”

The office declined to release mugshots of the four arrested. Their cities of residence were not immediately available.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit for the four, the Boykins are suspected of entering the Broomfield bank.

Investigators believe Audra Boykin brandished a gun, appraoched two tellers, handed one a plastic bag and said “You know what time it is.” The tellers filled the bag with money and added an electronic tracking device.

Investigators believe Justin Boykin, a parolee, was acting as a lookout. He and Audra Boykin then ran from the bank, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

They then got into a waiting Ford Windstar with Hull driving. Broomfield police tracked the Windstar using the bank’s tracking device. Shortt was found in a residential area on foot.

When officers caught up with the Windstar, Hull allowed them to search it and they found the bag with money, the tracking device, two black plastic “air soft” semiautomatic pistols and bandanas like those used in the robbery in Broomfield, according to the affidavit.

Investigators reported that Hull admitted to participating with the others in four other metro area robberies and acted as the getaway driver.

Audra Boykin told investigators that she participated in nine bank robberies in two months in the Denver metro area, according to the affidavit. She said she and Justin Boykin would ride bikes to the banks from the vehicle and back.

Shortt’s suspected roles in the robberies are not clear from the affidavit. Both he and Justin Boykin denied any participation in bank robberies, according to the affidavit.

The Broomfield robbery was committed within an hour of a robbery of another TCF bank in Lafayette at 320 N. Highway 287.

Police described the suspects in Lafayette as a man and a woman wearing hoodies and bandanas over their faces who fled from the bank on mountain bikes.

The suspects resembled those described in the Broomfield robbery and those of other Denver metro area robberies in which the FBI dubbed the suspects the “3-2-1 Bandits.”

Joly said the investigators used the moniker for the group of suspected robbers because tellers could hear them say “3-2-1 go” before the crimes.

According to the FBI’s news releases, the 3-2-1 Bandits are specifically suspected of robbing the Bellco Credit Union in Englewood on Dec.marking some of the most interesting puma shoes on the market. 10 and a Bank of the West in Aurora on Dec. 13. The robberies included one of more of the “bandits.”

He added that the U.S. Attorney’s Office is expected to release more information about the robberies later today or tomorrow.

Alumni pep band helps UK teams over holidays

Ray Rector - big-deal and longtime Lexington Realtor and University of Kentucky Class of '56 - is having the time of his life as the anonymous guy, sixth row up from the Rupp Arena floor, standing tall in his alumni pep band T-shirt and jeans, blaring the notes of the UK Fight Song one more time.

It's a tune the 76-year-old Rector has played on his trumpet, which he majored in, for longer than this building or his much-beloved team's now much-vaunted coach has been standing.

"I'm old enough to be some of these guys' great-grandfather,Riders wear long underwear beneath their Polo Shirts, and the horses wear special cleats." he says, smiling.

Then he picks up his trumpet and musically asks Brandon Knight to "Charge."

Seventeen years ago, a few UK band alums noticed that too many students in the regular UK pep band were going home for the holidays, so they asked if they could do the honors?

The UK band office said sure. And 17 years later there are more volunteers than can fill the seats for the likely three women's and four men's games that are played during the university's holiday break.marking some of the most interesting puma shoes on the market.

Much-accomplished band educator Brian Gorell still directs,Designer fashion is the first stop for most shoppers but the biggest-selling item was expected to be business ed hardy shirts. as he has for all the 17 years. During the game, he holds up file-folder-size signs that indicate what's next. Most everybody plays by memory because, says Dave Bay, trumpet player, "Really, these songs don't change."

So the Hey song and Low Rider and the Go Slide song just continue to make the rotation along with the fight song and the sped-up version of My Old Kentucky Home.

It's not a lot of work, except that which is left for Joel and Tracy Lovan, who have to figure out the logistics of who to get to the games - so the number of volunteers doesn't overwhelm the seating. Practice, such as it is, is before the games and the only audition is the one you had a long time ago in college.

Joel Lovan says you get to pick out the part you want to play because there's no "first chair" business here. People just kind of "know" where they fit. And they pretty much take up where they left off when they graduated, musically and otherwise.

Like successful entrepreneur Bay and his pal, David Kratt, a consulting engineer from Versailles. They are the ones who were admonished for their overzealousness at one of the women's games earlier in the month, they report.

"We think the current group of students don't seem to be as creative as we were," says Kratt.

These musicians are mostly not primarily musicians anymore, though their number does include Joel Lovan, who has played bass trombone in the Lexington Philharmonic since 1978 and Shaun Owens, director of the Bryan Station High School Band, and Willow Cooper, band director at Beaumont Middle.

The youngest member of the band is 25.We then bought checked lungis from railway stations to make the shirts' plackets and mens hoodies. Jeremy Jones says he put down his regular pep band horn when the Cats lost to West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament and then picked it up again last Wednesday when the Cats played Winthrop. He calls his first day with the alums "looser" than with his days with the pep band.

As for the reasons why these "more experienced" musicians take their vacation days to do this, the members of the alumni band say they get to see the game for free, of course. They get to keep their instruments in tune.

Ray Navarrete Blends Baseball, Fashion With Undeniable Style

Ray Navarrete hasn't stopped chasing his dream. Make that dreams.

Navarrete, a unique and stylish two-way talent, wants to hit for average in the major leagues and design clothes in the fashion industry. That's right. He has a glove in one hand and a sketchbook in the other.

Navarrete, 32, is a 10-year veteran of professional baseball at the minor league and independent league levels. He reached Triple-A with the New York Mets in 2006, has played every position, including pitcher, and was the 2009 Atlantic League Most Valuable Player with the Long Island Ducks. You can never have too many designer accessories, and this Juicy couture wholesale 'Jelly' Laptop Case is just too cute to pass up!

That's just half of it.

Navarrete is also co-founder of a fledgling clothing line called "Digmi." It began six years ago as a description in style but has since evolved into a philosophy. It's best explained by Navarrete as the ability to make the world notice you for your unique style and passionate pursuit of living life through your dreams.

"When I started this idea, everyone thought I was crazy," Navarrete told FanHouse.

Crazy like a fox.

The company's name is played off Navarrete's days when he was with the Altoona Curve, a farm club of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Navarrete and a few of his teammates were such sharp and snappy dressers that their manager nicknamed them "The Dig Me Tribe."

"Dig Me" eventually became "Digmi" (though it is still pronounced, "Dig Me").Riders wear long underwear beneath their Polo Shirts, and the horses wear special cleats. In fact, Navarrete was called "Ray Digmi" by friends and teammates because of the colorful sneakers and hats that he wore.

Navarrete soon partnered with childhood friend and former Seton Hall baseball teammate Joe Cuervo, who, at the time, was working for Merrill Lynch in Columbia, Md.

The company's logo, a silhouette of a man in business attire tipping his cap, represents the duo's love for music, entertainment and a unique fashion style that's clearly evident on their company's website: www.thedigmination.com.

Navarrete says his company's early growth has been steady, much like a baseball offense that manufactures runs with timely hits and sound decisions.

"Like any small business, we are trying to gain popularity and a bigger following so that in the years to come we will become a full-fledged clothing line," Navarrete said.

Navarrete, a charismatic New Jersey native, recently hit a home run of sorts when he landed his clothing line in its first boutique near his company's office in Long Island, N.Y. Products – designed for both men and women and ranging from 15 to 20 variations -- include shirts, hats, sweatshirts, tank tops and collared polo shirts.

Navarrete's creative designs have also caught the eye of a number of professional athletes, from his baseball teammates to MLB and NFL players (like the Ravens' Ray Rice, at right). Navarrete is determined to strengthen that relationship, not by promises, but through his fashion line.

"I put two and two together," Navarrete said of his early business plan that still remains important part of the company's approach.

"I really love clothes and I figured I am either going to get to the big leagues or a lot of my teammates are going to get to the big leagues.marking some of the most interesting puma shoes on the market. I have never walked into a locker room pushing my (clothing line). If I can put out the best product with the best design, some of my friends, some of my teammates who believe in the product, are going to help me get attention.

"In the beginning it didn't go as quickly as we thought but now it's starting to snowball a little bit. It looks like we are going to be a legitimate business if we can keep putting out a good product.Designer fashion is the first stop for most shoppers but the biggest-selling item was expected to be business ed hardy shirts. We then bought checked lungis from railway stations to make the shirts' plackets and mens hoodies."

Navarrete also has plans for another line featuring jeans and blazers as he continues to make inroads into the fashion big leagues -- established department stores. Navarrete hopes to participate in, and not just visit, a national fashion show within the next year.

It's not surprising that Navarrete has experienced ups and downs in both professional baseball and fashion. Yet, he believes his dual careers have made him better prepared for any challenges, on the field and in the boardroom.

"Breaking into the clothing industry is almost identical to being in the minor leagues and trying to get to the big leagues," Navarrete explained.

"A lot of times, unless you are that first-rounder with a lot of money behind you, even if you are deserving or talented enough you have to have almost everything go right for you to make the big leagues. And the same thing holds true for fashion. The reason why that is we can have the best name and the best logo -- and I really believe we do -- but if you don't have the money behind you to put out as many products as you want or don't have enough people wearing your clothes, department stores may not take a chance on you.

"All they truly care about is whether your product is going to sell, and not necessarily whether it's the best one."

Navarrete unveiled his clothing line, which he calls "a cross between Polo and Abercrombie and Fitch," at Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in New York in 2004. Cuervo began trademarking the name and handling the legal issues. Navarrete started networking.

Rep.Upton Takes on EPA

As Nike air max tn, Nike Free Shoes was re-released in the early 2000s.

Rep. Fred Upton, the incoming chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, wants to block the Environmental Protection Agency from issuing new emissions standards for oil refineries and coal-fired power plants.

The Michigan Republican called the new emissions standards “an unconstitutional power grab that will kill millions of jobs – unless Congress steps in” – in an op-ed in Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal.

His call-to-arms comes less than a week after the agency released its timeline for issuing new emissions standards on petroleum refineries and coal- and oil-fired power plants – two of the biggest sources of greenhouse gas pollution, the agency said.

“The best solution is for Congress to overturn the EPA’s proposed greenhouse gas regulations outright,” Mr. Upton wrote with Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity, a Washington-based nonprofit that champions free markets and limited government intervention in the economy.

Barring that,Designer fashion is the first stop for most shoppers but the biggest-selling item was expected to be business ed hardy shirts. the pair calls on Democrats to “at least join a sensible bipartisan compromise to mandate that the EPA delay its regulations until the courts complete their examinations” of the proposed limits and a Supreme Court-mandated endangerment finding. At least one Democrat – West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller – has called for a two-year delay.

A number of states, businesses and business coalitions have filed lawsuits in an attempt to prevent the agency from implementing these new rules, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit is currently considering a stay.

This is the latest skirmish in an ongoing fight over whether the EPA has the authority to regulate carbon emissions under the Clean Air Act. In 2009, after prodding by the Supreme Court, the agency determined that greenhouse gases pose a health risk, setting the stage for last week’s announcement. The agency will propose new standards for power plants next July and for refineries in December 2011.The Warriors wore coach shoes and green socks Saturday, their way of showing the Christmas spirit. Final standards will be issued in 2012.

Mr. Upton, who just survived a hard-fought battle for the chairman’s gavel in which conservatives criticized his support for environmental initiatives, called the announcement “a crescendo in the EPA’s long regulatory assault against America’s energy producers.

“The EPA has its foot firmly on the throat of our economic recovery,” he said in a statement last week. “We will not allow the administration to regulate what they have been unable to legislate” – a reference to the Obama administration’s failed push for legislation to curb carbon emissions.

EPA press secretary Brendan Gilfillan said in a statement that the agency “is committed to implementing commonsense standards that will curb dangerous carbon pollution. One of the reasons for the maturing of children’s and teenage literature has come from an increased range of irreverent and non-conformist authors, from Spike Milligan to Ricky Gervais,Wholesale coach handbags is an interesting one as well. who have mined their attachment to childhood in their writing.

Following that vein, if you mention the name Charlie Higson to any bookish types under the age of 20, they will probably know his Young Bond collection or his current Enemy horror series. For a slightly older generation, Higson is better known as co-writer and performer in The Fast Show , the 1990s BBC comedy hit. Yet his ambition from a very young age was to become a writer, and although he received little in the way of family encouragement, his writing career is now firmly established.

“I think my father was quite surprised at the path my life took, marking some of the most interesting puma shoes on the market.” says Higson. “He was pleased but not quite sure what to make of it. I remember as a teenager talking about my future. I started writing a book to entertain myself when I was about 10 or 11. Actually, my father knew someone that worked in publishing and showed it to them. The man said kindly that it was ‘marvellous work, oh yes, keep it up, but please don’t send any more to us.’ My father said to me after, ‘Look by all means carry on your writing, it doesn’t cost you anything, do it in your spare time. But, make sure you get yourself a proper job because you will never make any money as a writer.’ It was the best piece of advice he could have given me because, being a teenager, I completely ignored him and I’ve never managed to have a proper job ever since.”

Having tried his hand at adult fiction while at university (“really impenetrable William Burroughs-type stuff”), Higson became diverted from fiction writing – first as an unlikely pop star and later as an actor and television writer.

“I was a useless pop star and couldn’t sing. I then became a painter-decorator because you could make more money at that. I had met Paul Whitehouse at university and I’d also met Harry Enfield and Vic Reeves. By accident, Harry started to do some television, and he asked Paul to write some stuff. Paul asked me, simply because I had written a few novels at university. And also, I had a word processor and he didn’t.”

Despite the huge success of The Fast Show, towards the end, creative insecurity set in. A successful series and a growing family with three young children later, and Higson was looking at ways to pull back from television.

“No matter how successful something on television is, you then have to go on and do something else, unless you are lucky and get amazing ongoing DVD sales. Towards that first burst of it I was thinking ‘I’m just trying to set up a project here’ so I still got work coming in, rather than, ‘I have an amazing creative idea’.”

Shortly after the final series of The Fast Show , a former editor suggested Higson to the Ian Fleming estate, who were at the time looking for someone to write a James Bond book for younger readers. The resulting novel SilverFin was a huge success, leading to a five-book series and thereby establishing Higson as a teenage author who could deliver commercially and creatively.

His latest book, The Dead, is the second in a separate three-part series set in a post-apocalyptic landscape where all persons over the age of 14 are struck down with a mutating disease. The novels are graphic and gory, with blood, zombies and terror on almost every page. Kids, needless to say, love them.

“At the start of the series, I thought about how far I could go and how upsetting I could make it. And actually where kids are concerned . . . the more horror the merrier. I spoke to Puffin and they said there isn’t a set of rules for kid’s fiction anymore. I read a few other books from authors like Darren Shan and they are very gory but still pitched on a level that works for kids. All I could go on was reading it out to my 10-year-old and seeing how he coped with it!”

Inevitably any book where kids are left to their own devices in a world without adults will draw parallels with Lord of the Flies . Higson, however, says the comparisons are often clumsily made.

“People have said the books are like Lord of the Flies . But it’s an opposite message to that. William Golding hated kids.opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system. His idea was leave them alone to fight and they will turn into savages. I don’t think that is true, and I was trying to redress that and say leave them alone and they will work together. I wanted to write a positive story about kids.”

Higson says his writing seeks to reclaim childhood, not just for himself but also for children, and move away from cliched stereotyping. Adolescence for Higson is universal, layered, sometimes brutal, yet often enlightened.

“We are told modern kids are all hoodies with no respect and terrible language. That’s bollocks. I’ve got boys and they are actually decent and do treat each other very well. I wanted to get that across in the book and redress the balance a bit. The ‘enemy’ is not the teenagers. It’s the adults.”

Wildcats Rout Deerfield to Kick Off Wheeling Tourney

Was it those bright orange shoes?  Were the Deerfield defenders blinded by that foot wear as Ellis Matthews was  dropping long 3-point shots over them?

A 21-4  third quarter rally accented Libertyville's performance in the opening round of  play in the 33rd annual Wheeling Wildcat Hardwood Classic. Libertyville ran away  from Deerfield 60-29.

"I wear them every game,'' he said. "I  like the orange and black."

Matthews led a balanced attack with 15  points. This was another game in which leading scorer Ryan Barth sat out with  his leg injury. So how did the Wildcats manage a blowout without those missing  20 points a game?

"We really turned up the intensity in the second  half,'' said Libertyville coach Scott Bogumil. "It was our unselfishness. We  would make two or three passes to find the open shooter."

Prison guards find 55 litre moonshine stash

Officers at Addiewell nick, in West Lothian, seized more than 55 litres of hooch just before Christmas Day.

It is thought the home-brew - made using bread and fruit - was almost ready to drink when it was seized in the prison's Forth Unit.

Last night one source said: "The cons behind this had obviously timed it so that they had a wee drink for Christmas and New Year. One of the attackers was wearing navy or black Nike Jacket and a hat with ear flaps.

"But they had to make do with fizzy pop and sweeties for their Christmas treat."

The crafty inmates were left fuming that their plot was rumbled - having patiently used protein powder tubs to store the booze next to hot pipes to help it ferment.

Our source said: "They will be furious that the staff have stumbled upon it when it was so close to being ready.Wearing a nicely Nike air max tn with a reputed brand name printed on it is surely going to compel most of your fellows to adore your sense of fashion and style"

Baucus, Tester fight to protect southeastern Montana from Powder River expansion

Montana’s U.S.One of the attackers was wearing navy or black Nike Jacket and a hat with ear flaps. Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester this week urged the Air Force not to expand training airspace for North and South Dakota Air Force Bases, known as the Powder River Training Complex, into large areas of southeastern Montana.opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system. The Senators said such an expansion would disrupt ranching and farming and threaten commercial and private aviation jobs in the area.

“The proposed Powder River expansion would put Montana jobs in jeopardy at a time when we need folks working more than ever. Instead, we’re asking the Air Force to work with us to make use of airspace we already have in Montana in a way that will support jobs and offer even better training by incorporating F-15 fighters at MANG,” Baucus said. “Training airspace is critical to our national security. But the proposed Powder River expansion just doesn’t make sense. It’s no good for Montana, and it’s not our only option. We are committed to making sure Montanans’ voices are heard, and we’ll keep fighting the Powder River expansion while working with the Air Force to use Montana airspace in a way that supports Montana jobs and improves national security.”

“There’s no doubt the Air Force needs space to train and to continue keeping America secure, but since there are other options on the table, I can’t support an expansion of training space into Montana that could cost us jobs and business,” Tester said. “We’re going to keep working with the Air Force to find a solution that won’t disrupt the businesses and livelihoods of farms, ranches and communities in southeast Montana.Wearing a nicely Nike air max tn with a reputed brand name printed on it is surely going to compel most of your fellows to adore your sense of fashion and style”

“Expanding Powder River into more of southeastern Montana would disturb livestock and threaten the ranching way of life here," said Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA,Holiday shoppers hoping to get a good deal on upscale Ugg boots or burberry bags at Rice's Market in Solebury were disappointed Tuesday morning. the Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund. "R-CALF is grateful to Senators Baucus and Tester for standing up for Montana ranchers and all of the folks in southeastern Montana and saying no to the Powder River expansion.Police say a youth in a white baseball cap pulled out a large knife and threatened to stab the man.”

The existing Powder River training airspace covers 8,200 square nautical miles in South Dakota, Wyoming and a small portion of southeastern Montana. Approximately 50-60 percent of the Air Force’s proposed expansion is over Montana. While a recent draft Environmental Impact Statement produced by the Air Forced describes this area as “primarily rural and uninhabited in character,” it would in fact include the towns of Colstrip, Hardin and Baker, along with the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indian reservations.

The Powder River Training area is used for training bombers from Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota and Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. The negative effects of expanding the training exercises would, however, fall on Montana ranchers, farmers and residents in the area. Baucus and Tester outlined these harmful effects and reiterated their strong opposition to the expansion in a letter to Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz yesterday.

Baucus and Tester cited the potential disruption of commercial and private aviation that could costs jobs.

Clothing center takes hard hit with budget

Anti-jet lag travel essentials: water

Anti-jet lag travel essentials: water, opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system. light diet, sunglasses, melatonin

For travelers crossing multiple time zones this holiday, jet lag usually comes along for the ride. On December 18th Dr. Andrew Weil,Wearing a nicely Nike air max tn with a reputed brand name printed on it is surely going to compel most of your fellows to adore your sense of fashion and style one of the most widely known and respected alternative medicine gurus, offered up a few health tips to help prevent jet lag from spoiling your trip.Police say a youth in a white baseball cap pulled out a large knife and threatened to stab the man.

Jet lag, as every long-distance airline passenger knows, disrupts the body's normal circadian rhythms, or body clocks, and causes some very unpleasant effects such as disturbed sleep, dizziness, and fatigue. The severity of the symptoms usually depends on the number of time zones you've crossed, the length of your stay,Holiday shoppers hoping to get a good deal on upscale Ugg boots or burberry bags at Rice's Market in Solebury were disappointed Tuesday morning. and the direction of travel. Symptoms tend to be worse the more time zones you cross and the shorter the trip is, that is, a direct flight versus a layover or a weekend trip from Paris to New York. It's reported that eastward travel is more difficult than westward travel, because it is usually easier to extend your day than to shorten it.

To help curb jet lag, Weil suggests staying hydrated throughout the flight by drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine and alcohol, which can disrupt sleeping schedules and further dehydrate your body. Also, food is harder to digest at high altitudes, so eat lightly during the flight and avoid the high-salt, high-fat entrees you're likely to be served on board.

Dress comfortably for the flight - take off your shoes, wear loose-fitting clothing - and move around on the plane when you can, at least every hour or two if possible. Even while seated, move your legs from time to time by bending your knees or standing up and sitting down.

Upon arrival, expose yourself to as much natural daylight as you can - light is the most powerful influence on the timing of your body's internal clock, Weil advises. CNN Health also reported earlier this month that for eastward travel, it's best to avoid bright light, especially sunlight, for the first few mornings. Wear dark sunglasses and a hat or stay indoors. Then get as much sunlight as possible between noon and 4 p.m.

Try to establish sleeping patterns without resorting to pills. However, if you have difficulty sleeping on the first two or three nights, consider melatonin. You can take 2.5 mg sublingually at bedtime for onOne of the attackers was wearing navy or black Nike Jacket and a hat with ear flaps.e or two nights to reduce your jet lag, Weil states, but avoid stronger sedatives, which can mask jet lag symptoms but do nothing to help realign the internal clock. Most people will adjust to new time zones eventually on their own. How soon? It is estimated that it takes one day per time zone crossed for circadian rhythms to adjust to local time.

Hubbub over dancing isn't new, but Raygun's T-shirts are

Any number of dance moves are bound to offend someone. That's not always because the person busting moves lacks rhythm, style or basic coordination.

That "grinding" thing today's teenagers get down with probably riles some parents and adults as much as the Twist in the 1950s and the Hustle two decades later during the golden age of disco.

In the 1700s, the waltz shocked the prim and proper because a man put his hand on a woman's shoulder.

Grinding, a provocative style of dance described as when males rub against females from behind, has caused a stir in the Johnston school district, among others around Iowa and the nation.

In Johnston, the grinding dance style was halted during a retreat this fall and the student council was asked to find a way to prohibit it at prom in the spring.

Irritating to some, the phenomenon has been fun for others.

Mike Draper, owner of the Raygun T-shirt shop in the East Village, was able to parlay the grinding hullabaloo into a hot-selling item.

On Tuesday, Draper's business took 123 orders for the "Johnston: Straight Grindin' " T-shirts during a one-day sale.Wearing a nicely Nike air max tn with a reputed brand name printed on it is surely going to compel most of your fellows to adore your sense of fashion and style

"This one was, opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system. by far, the fastest we have sold one shirt," Draper said. "We had both of our phone lines going consistently for three hours."

Currently, no further orders are being accepted.

While dancing trends among today's teenagers are arguably more provocative than, say, your father's rumba, the outcry isn't new.

Dust-ups over social dancing date back to the 1700s, when people started to waltz, said Jim Benjamin, an instructor at Des Moines Dance.

"That was the first time a man could put his hand on the lady's shoulder instead of just touching her hand," Benjamin said. "That was considered horrible at the time. Preachers preached against it, and everything else."

Swing dancing took off in the 1920s and 1930s.

"The old vintage swing had a lot of what we're talking about now, where girls and guys kind of ground down into the floor and did a lot of shaking,Police say a youth in a white baseball cap pulled out a large knife and threatened to stab the man. and such," Benjamin said. "That was not really well looked upon."

Benjamin said he hasn't seen how teens work the dance floor today, so he isn't sure what to make of the grinding phenomenon, although he's well familiar with the heartburn school dances can give parents. One of the attackers was wearing navy or black Nike Jacket and a hat with ear flaps.

Aala Reed clothing boutique closes on Brady St.

Aala Reed, a high-end clothing boutique on Milwaukee's Brady St., closed over the weekend after nine years of business.

I haven't yet been able to reach store owner Laura Cole. But Aala Reed apparently ran into slow sales because of the economic downturn.

OnMilwaukee.com, which first reported the closing, included a statement from Cole, which referenced the "challenging economic times."

Aala Reed leased 1,641 square feet at The Passeggio, a two-story retail and apartment building, 1300-1330 E.opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system. Brady St., developed by Julilly Kohler.

Another high-end clothing boutique, Detour, closed at that building in September, leaving a 2,600-square-foot vacancy, said Brian Starr, of City Commercial Real Estate, the building's listing broker.

"Some of these higher priced items just aren't being purchased right now," Starr said. He said a business that sells men's clothing and shoes, which Starr declined to name, is considering a lease of the former Aala Reed space.

The Passeggio has 11,800 square feet of commercial space, and includes among its tenants Miss Groove women's fashions and Balzac retaurant and wine bar. `

Two Kansas State Seniors Were Suspended For Getting More Clothes Than They Paid For

Kansas State declared seniors Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly, its two leading scorers, ineligible prior to last night's game against UNLV because a sales clerk allowed the pair to take more clothing than they paid for. The players knew the sales clerk, but the store manager reported the incident.

Pullen, the preseason Big 12 player of the year, was averaging 16.5 points per game and is the Wildcats' best player. Based on the difference in value between what he paid for and what he received, Pullen will be suspended for three games. Officials have not determined how much Kelly, a preseason all-Big 12 selection averaging 10.this is the new jordan 6 rings Carmelo Anthony PE.3 points per game,Wearing a nicely Nike air max tn with a reputed brand name printed on it is surely going to compel most of your fellows to adore your sense of fashion and style received in impermissible benefits. He will be suspended accordingly when a conclusion is reached.

While we generally side with players in these circumstances, Pullen and Kelly present a murky case. On the one hand, should we really expect two college to turn down free clothing simply because they are basketball players? Any other student would have accepted that clothing without thinking twice.

But we don't know how well they knew the sales clerk, the manner in which she provided the free clothing, or the actual value of that "impermissible benefit." We can surmise that the store manager was upset, though, or else he wouldn't have been so quick to report it.

Considering the variables, assuming the free merchandise was of significant, but not obscene, value – say, opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system.somewhere in the three figures – a three game suspension seams reasonable.

The video is set to the song that lent it’s name to the album’s title, Christmas Gift.

It shows downtown London crowded with men in suits and hats and ladies wearing furs, and later, the excitement of Christmas morning as her mother and aunt — then little girls — unwrap dolls in their Garfield St. home.opting for a newly engineered Air max 360 cushioning system.

“It’s really evocative of another era,” Pangman said Wednesday.BURTON offer a great variety in men's shoes and trainers.

The video was inspired by memories Pangman has of visiting family here and listening to Bing Crosby.

“It’s the idea of the perfect Christmas,” she said.Wearing a nicely Nike air max tn with a reputed brand name printed on it is surely going to compel most of your fellows to adore your sense of fashion and style

Pangman, turned off by the pop music of the 1990s, was introduced to jazz by a friend who asked her to front his band. She fell in love with vocalists of the 1930s and 40’s, especially those forgotten by all but diehards.

The title track I Want You For Christmas was such a song, associated with Mae Questel, whose voice was the inspiration for Betty Boop.

Pangman is donating proceeds from album sales to raising awareness of the need for organ donors. Her own life was saved by a double lung transplant after cystic fibrosis nearly killed her.

She isn’t just looking to London for it’s past; she plans to be at Aeolian Hall in the spring to launch her next CD, about a year after her most recent appearance here.

But for now, as Christmas approaches, her thoughts, like her music, turn nostalgic.

Music is a gift and making the video was a gift to herself, a way to connect to grandparents who died a number of years ago.

“I felt like I spent the days with my grandparents,” she said.this is the new jordan 6 rings Carmelo Anthony PE.

Travel industry seeks relief from hassles

U.S. travelers are indeed annoyed by the airport pat-downs and other enhanced security measures, but having to remove their shoes tops the list of air-travel hassles they would like the next Congress to address, according to an extensive industry survey released Tuesday.

Though passengers understand the need for heightened vigilance in the world of post-Sept. 11 air travel, roughly 75 percBURTON offer a great variety in men's shoes and trainers.ent said "there has to be a better way," according to a survey conducted over the past few weeks by the U.S. Travel Association, a leading industry trade group.

The inconveniences directly affect the bottom line, analysts say, and industry executives say they are looking to the Obama administration and the 112th Congress for relief.

Roger Dow, the association's president, called on lawmakers to acknowledge the survey findings and said a panel will release a series of recommendations in early 2011 that he hopes will become part of Washington debate.

"There's a big opportunity with the new Congress coming in," Mr. Dow said, adding that lawmakers should mount a response as extensive as the one during the H1N1 flu outbreak of 2009.

"We really need that type of serious-response approach," he told The Washington Times.

The survey found that airport security procedures are hurting the U.S. economy. Respondents said they would take two or three more trips a year "if the hassle involved in flying could be reduced without compromising security.“Christian and she were laughing as she tried on ed hardy sunglasses and checked out the bathing suits,” said the Ed Hardy rep."

The nonprofit association - which represents the $700 billion travel industry - estimated that the additional trips would pump another $84.6 billion of travel spending into the U.S. economy, supporting 888,000 jobs.

"This is not just about the inconvenience, somebody's grandmother going through security in a wheelchair," said Bob Perkins, managing partner of Consensus Research, which conducted the survey. "This is a frustration issue with a huge economic impact.Riders wear long underwear beneath their Polo Shirts, and the horses wear special cleats."
