You won't have to cross the Lake Pontchartrain this week to hear Joe Krown, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Russell Batiste in concert.

Known as the Joe Krown Trio, they will perform a little closer to home Friday at the Sunset at the Landing concert series in Covington.

Joe Krown Trio plays 7-9 p.m., and the free event is held at the foot of Columbia Street.
The trio released “Triple Threat” in 2010, and regularly perform in New Orleans at the Maple Leaf bar. Krown may best be remembered locally as a member of Gate's Express, the band that backed up the late Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown of Slidell.

Krowne plays keyboard and bass on his Hammond B-3, and joined with Washington on guitar and vocals, and Batiste on drums and background vocals in the spring of 2007. The following year, they released the CD “Live at the Maple Leaf.” They made a 15-city tour in 2010 with Nicholas Payton and Allen Toussaint called “New Orleans Nights.”
