Geva artistic director Mark Cuddy says that the theater has seen strong summer numbers since staging Menopause: The Musical in 2007. He hasn't seen the numbers growing, but other theater leaders say while the market is crowded, they have seen greater interest. Merry-Go-Round, for example, is teaming with Auburn Public Theatre and other groups to launch the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival next summer.
"Our subscriptions, group sales and individual ticket sales are all up over this same time last year," says Barb Allen of Bristol Valley Theatre. "It's encouraging, but always challenging."
